OUR STORY
ROOTS TO TAILS was founded as a community run charity project in the Oaks, Limpopo, rooted in nature, nurtured by women, and extended to every tail.
HALO, the NGO dedicated to uplifting the lives of dogs, has worked tirelessly to improve the lives of dogs in rural Limpopo and Mpumalanga since 2016. From vaccination and sterilisation campaigns to the ambulance service and education on animal kindness; their mission has always been compassion in action. The HALO camp is based in the Oaks, a safe place for sick, injured and surrendered community dogs.
Born from the heart of HALO’s mission, uplifting the lives of dogs in rural communities, Roots to Tails expands its impact — by transforming compassion into opportunity through the power of the Marula tree.
Roots to Tails is the natural next step — harnessing the power of the Marula tree to not only protect dogs but also empower the women who live alongside them.
Utilising the power of the Marula tree to uplift women and protect the dogs they love
Together, HALO and Roots to Tails are creating a circle of care that uplifts animals, women and the entire community.
From Tree to Heart, From Roots to Tails
The Marula Tree is at the center of Roots to Tails: through age old knowledge of the healing powers of this tree, a lifeline is created for women and animals. The natural Marula-based products not only generate income for unemployed women but also fund vital care for village dogs.
Located in the Oaks, Limpopo, Roots to Tails has a team of women working diligently on the production of Marula based products.
From delectable handmade Marula Jelly to the nutritious Marula Nuts and nourishing Marula Oil: with the proceeds you help support the livelihood of women and dogs in the rural communities.
Roots to Tails is 100% run by local women and all proceeds go to the women and dogs, providing a circle of self-sufficiency and care.
